Four of six Nobel Women's Initiative members to attend the Vancouver Peace Summit

The 2009 Vancouver Peace Summit will be a reunion of sorts for the Nobel Women's Initiative. Four of its six members will be joining the Dalai Lama to share their thoughts on education, peace-building and human rights. In 2003, Mairead Maguire, Betty Williams, Jody Williams and Rigoberta Menchu Tum founded the initiative, with sister Laureates Shirin Ebadi and Wangari Maathai, in a united effort for peace with justice and equality.

These four women are not only two-thirds of the Nobel Women's Initiative but also one-third of the small group of 12 women ever to be recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize.
