1000 Tibetans

Dalai Lama Center
1000 Tibetans

In 2010, the Hon. Jason Kenney announced that the government would welcome 1,000 Tibetans living in Arunachal Pradesh to Canada, following a 2007 personal appeal by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Tibetan-Canadians, their supporters, churches, Dharma centres, community groups, and resettlement agencies to name just a few are now working together in cities across Canada to ensure the success of this opportunity.

Individuals and organizations are stepping forward, fundraising events are being held and public outreach is well underway.

This coming March, Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) hopes to conduct the first round of interviews in Arunachal Pradesh.

There are three ways to participate as a sponsor:

1. as part of a Group of Five
2. as an organization. This includes such groups as a TCA, a Dharma centre, church, etc.
3. participating as an individual co-sponsor with a sponsorship agreement holder
