Summit Overview

The Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education was honoured to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Vancouver, September 27-29, 2009 for the Vancouver Peace Summit: Nobel Laureates in Dialogue. Joining the Dalai Lama were Nobel Laureates Jody Williams, Mairead Maguire, Betty Williams and Murray Gell-Mann, as well as a number of respected international leaders from the realms of education, the arts, business, politics and social transformation.

The Summit was built on dialogues held at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and the Orpheum Theatre. The focus of these dialogues included the themes of peace, education and women and peace-building.

The Summit featured four webcast dialogues: World Peace through Personal Peace, Nobel Laureates in Dialogue: Connecting for Peace, Educating the Heart, and Women and Peace-building. You can find them in the CTV.ca archives.

The dialogues are available in a 4-disc set, which features never before seen footage and more than 4 hours of inspirational conversations.

Connecting for Change

A key component of the Summit was Connecting for Change, a three-day invitation-only dialogue for corporate and social leaders and philanthropists that focused on questions related to universal themes of compassion, community, and peace.
