Bruce was a secondary educator in the Richmond School District for 37 years, teaching Science, Math and Computer Science before moving into the district office half-way through his career. He held a variety of positions over the next 20 years, including responsibility for curriculum and for special education, retiring as Superintendent in 2010.
He now serves as an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education at SFU and as a member of the National Council of the Canadian Education Association, the Editorial Board of Education Canada, the Board of The Critical Thinking Consortium and several other educational bodies. Bruce also works as a consultant and speaks to audiences on the subject of leadership and learning. He holds an MSc in Physics from UBC, an MA in Curriculum Development from UBC and a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Tampere in Finland.
