A retired Member of BC's Legislative Assembly, Mary McNeil was Minister of State for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver/Whistler. She also served as Minister for Children and Family Development, where her responsibilities included oversight of Child Protection and Family Development; Adoption; Foster Care; Early Childhood Development and Child Care; Child and Youth Mental Health; Youth Justice & Youth Services and Special Needs Children & Youth.

Prior to serving as an MLA, Mary was President and CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation, and held a number of senior positions for international conferences with world leaders, including APEC 1997, the XI International Conference on AIDS, World Summit for Children in 1990, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Zimbabwe in October 1991, and the Clinton/Yeltsin Summit in 1993.

Mary is currently on the Board of the Vancouver Opera, the Board of the Arpeg Group of Companies, and is the Director of the Mathisen Family Private Foundation.
