What does it take to be a leader? Or more importantly, what does it take to make a leader? That's the question that Daniel Goleman wants to address.
Goleman, the author of Emotional Intelligence and a former guest of the DLC's Speakers Series, says that leaders are made, not born. In his blog post on Psychology Today, Goleman says that for too long parents of "shy" children have wrongly assumed shyness is a fixed trait.
But as Goleman explains in his blog post, there is scientifc evidence that shows kids can move up and down the "shyness scale" as they grow up. And there are things that parents can do, says Goleman, to help their kids overcome their shyness and become leaders.
