The Dalai Lama Center is pleased to be able to give away a limited number of tickets for the upcoming premiere of Nati Baratz's UNMISTAKEN CHILD on Wednesday September 9, 7pm at Fifth Avenue Cinemas.
Visually stunning and emotionally gripping, Nati Baratz’s new documentary UNMISTAKEN CHILD follows the 4-year search for a reincarnated Tibetan master, told through the eyes of his lifelong disciple.
Lama Konchog, became world-renowned as one of the greatest Tibetan masters. In 2001, at the age of 84, he passed away and the Dalai Lama charged the deceased monk’s shy but devoted disciple, Tenzin Zopa (who has been in his service since the age of seven), to search for his master’s reincarnation.
Tenzin sets off on this unforgettable search by foot, mule and even helicopter, through breathtaking landscapes and remote traditional villages. Assisted by astrology, signs in dreams and the whispers of villagers about young children with special characteristics, he finally comes across an apparent contender. Rarely seen ritualistic tests to determine the likelihood of reincarnation are performed and the boy is eventually presented to the Dalai Lama so that he can make the final decision.
Stunningly shot, UNMISTAKEN CHILD is a beguiling, surprising, touching, even humorous experience.
