REGISTRATION and CHECK IN

How do I register for the Heart-Mind 2016 Conference?

We highly recommend that you register in advance online at our ticket page with a credit card through our secure ticket agency. You should receive an email confirmation within a few minutes of successful registration. (*Please note: after you have registered, we will contact you by email with instructions for choosing your Workshop or Big Conversation, Small Group session.)

Where do I check in upon arrival at the Heart-Mind 2016 Conference?

Please enter through the main entrance of the Bell Performing Arts Centre. The registration desk will be located just inside the entrance, in the theatre lobby. Please bring a copy of your registration confirmation to the conference and arrive early to check-in, receive your name badge and select your seat. On Friday, October 21st, the registration desk will be open at 7:30am. Doors to the theatre open at 8:00 am and the conference begins at 8:30am.

How do I find my way around the Venue?

Wayfinding signs will be posted around the site, and volunteers will be posted to guide participants.

SPECIAL PRICING

Are any discounts or special pricing packages available?

From May 20th to July 15th, 2016 discounted spring Early Bird pricing will be in effect ($259/person). After July 15th, full registration costs will be in effect ($279/person). Group Discounts are available if you register 4 or more people together ($255/person).

SCHEDULE OF SESSIONS

Can you provide more detailed information about the conference schedule?

BREAK-OUT SESSIONS

Will there be break-out sessions or workshops?

Break-out sessions will occur Saturday afternoon, and run for approximately 1 ½ hours, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. There are two distinct types of break-out sessions available: Workshops and Big Conversations, Small Groups. All these sessions run concurrently in the break-out rooms, so you may only choose one type of session or the other when you register for the conference.

Workshops: Interactive workshops will provide practical and hands-on knowledge about specific topics of interest related to the theme of Cultivating Resilience. These workshops are facilitated by experts in their fields and are excellent professional development opportunities.

Big Conversations, Small Groups: These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss relevant themes with one of Friday's presenters in a smaller group setting.

WORKSHOP AND BIG CONVERSATION, SMALL GROUP SELECTIONS

How do I choose the Workshop or Big Conversation, Small Group session I wish to attend?

You will be contacted by email to make your workshop selections starting in July. Workshops and Big Conversations, Small Groups are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you register, the more likely you will get your first choice. We will contact you to confirm the availability of your preferred sessions once you have made your selections.

Can I change my preference for a Workshop or Big Conversation, Small Group?

We will do our best to accommodate your change requests, but due to the popularity of these workshops and the limited seats available, you may not be able to switch once your original workshop selection has been confirmed.

TICKETS FOR SINGLE EVENTS

I can't attend the whole conference. Are tickets for individual events available?

Tickets for individual days/events are not available in advance. If unsold seats remain, tickets for individual days/events will be available at the door on the day of the event. Notice of availability of walk-up tickets will be posted on our website on October 21st.

VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Will there be cameras present at the conference?

The conference will be videotaped, and photographers will be present throughout the conference. By registering for Heart-Mind 2016, you agree to allow your image to be captured by video or photograph, and give permission for the Dalai Lama Center to display photos and/or video that may include your image for our event archives and promotional purposes only.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

What food and beverage is included in the registration package?

Light snacks, coffee, tea and water will be provided free for your enjoyment during mid-morning networking breaks, and catered lunch and beverages will be served on both Friday and Saturday.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What is your ticket cancellation policy?

Registration fees will be refunded upon request if such request is received prior to Noon Pacific Time, Friday, September 23rd, 2016. A $30 processing fee will apply to all refunded tickets.

SPEAKER CANCELLATIONS/SUBSTITUTIONS

Please note, conference speakers, workshops and schedule may be subject to change due to extenuating circumstances. We will post notice of any cancellations/substitutions on our website as soon as we are aware of this.

What Public Transit options are available?

The Bell Performing Arts Centre is located at 6250 – 144th Street in Surrey, BC. Please visit the Translink website for more details on public transit routes. This website will also allow you to plan your route using all of the public transit options available in Metro Vancouver.

If I drive, where can I park my car for the day?

There is a free parking lot at the Bell Performing Arts Centre, with over 1,000 free stalls available.
