A look at the 2009 Vancouver Peace Summit, one year later

One year ago today, the Dalai Lama Center welcomed His Holiness and over twenty leaders in social change to Vancouver for a global peace summit. The 2009 Vancouver Peace Summit saw five Nobel Laureates join the stage with authors, scientists, educators and philanthropists to talk about how we can create a more compassionate, peaceful world.

The event was attended by over 20,000 people and thousands more watched it online.

At the Summit, a theme began to develop throughout the dialogues. Many of the speakers suggested that while it is important to talk about compassion, it’s even more important to put compassion into action.

So today, the DLC would like to share with you how some people have done just that in the year following the Summit.

You'll hear a special performace from Mario Frangoulis, along with the reflections of BRAC USA President and CEO Susan Davis and UBC's Clyde Hertzman.

You'll also hear from some people who have made some changes in their life, both big and small, following the Vancouver Peace Summit.

While Connecting for Change was an invitation-only event, today we're pleased to be able to offer you a behind-the-scenes look at the event, as well some insights from incredible change agents, including Janice Levine, Mary Tidlund and Robert Kalyesubula.

You can also take home part of the Summit with you by purchasing some of the commemorative items that are for sale. These include postcards, bookmarks, a 2011 calendar and complete transcripts of all four dialogues.
