Funding
The Center currently receives no government funding and, as such, gratefully receives donations from the local and global community to support its mission and its annual budget for 2009-10 of approximately $2 million (CDN). The DLC also negotiates corporate sponsorships, which offer the Center the opportunity to engage and collaborate with socially responsible businesses to fulfill its mission and enable such businesses to obtain recognition and other promotional benefits.
Current sources of financial support include individual donors, program and event fees and ticket revenue, foundation grants and corporate sponsorships.
The Center gratefully acknowledges the donors, funders and sponsors who have supported the Center since its inception in 2005, including support for the Vancouver Peace Summit - September 2009. With permission, a full listing of donors will be posted on our website at the end of 2009.
How can donors and funders financially contribute to the Center’s mission?
- Support the development and implementation of a Global Scholars Program to support young people from North America and throughout the world, through their academic and applied work, to advance the connections between the Dalai Lama's values and interests and the creation of a peaceful and sustainable world.
- Enable the development of strong collaborations between corporate sector leaders, social sector leaders and philanthropists through the Connecting for Change program
- Contribute to the work to advance the importance of heart-mind education through the Center for the Advancement of Heart-Mind Education
- Provide financial support to enable the Center to host unique and distinguished speakers and workshop leaders on issues and topics associated with the Center’s mission (for example, emotional intelligence, mindfulness and education and the like)
