Paul Ekman was an undergraduate in the Hutchins era at the University of Chicago 1949-52, finishing a major in Psychology at NYU and receiving his PH.D in Psychology from Adelphi UNiversity in 1958. He has written, co-authored or edited 15 books, most recently Emotional Awareness, co-authored with the Dalai Lama.
Ekman has received honorary degrees from the Universities of Chicago and Geneva, and will be receiving one from Lund University in 2011. He was named one of the 100 most influential psychologists of the 20th century, and selected by TIME magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2009. Ekman also continues some research in emotional skills and deadly intent, and development and marketing of online training tools in emotional skills and deception. ALl this while working as a Scientific Consultant on the FOX television. program "Lie To Me" which was loosely based on him and on his research.
