Robert Roeser, Ph.D., focuses his research on schools as primary cultural contexts of adolescent development – how experiences in schools, with teachers and peers, affect adolescents’ identity development, social-emotional well-being, motivation to learn, and educational life paths.
He examines how practices like yoga and mindfulness meditation can be integrated into teacher professional development and secondary school settings. The results are a reduction in stress, enhanced well-being and self-regulatory capacity, and greater compassion among teachers and adolescents.
